DESCRIPTIVE TEXT

  •  It’s a kind of text with a purpose to give information

  •  The context of this kind of text is the description of particular thing, animal, person, or others for instance : our pets or a person we know well. It differs from report which describer things, animals, persons, or others in general.

  • The social function of Descriptive text is to describe a particular person, place, or thing.

  • Generic structure :

a)    Identification     : indentify the phenomenon to be described
b)    Description       : describe parts, qualities, characteristic, behavior
(personal)

  •  Languange features :

1)     Descriptive often uses ‘be’ and ‘have’
2)    Tense which is often used is Simple Present Tense. Sometimes it uses Past Tense if the thing to be described doesn’t exist anymore
3)    Significant Grammatical features : focus on spesific participants use Simple Present Tense (judul)
4)    Use descriptive adjectives
5)    Use action verbs (kata kerja yang menyatakan kegiatan) ‘Material Processes’
6)    Use figurative languange

·                Perbedaan antara WILL dan BE GOING TO :
- WILL : masih berupa rencana yang baru tercetus saat itu juga.
- BE GOING TO : seseorang sudah mengetahuinya dan membuat rencana jauh-jauh hari
·                Fungsi WILL dan BE GOING TO :
- WILL : untuk memprediksi , kesediaan untuk menolong/ kesukarelaan, kalimat pengandaian ( Conditional Sentences), dan dalam pengucapan janji.
- BE GOING TO : untuk prediksi dan rencana yang sudah di susun jauh hari.
